Standing hip circles

From "Stiff hips after 50? Start with these 5 gentle daily moves" — read the full guide for all the details.

1 Standing hip circles Hold the back of a chair for balance. Lift one knee to hip height (or as high as comfortable) and draw slow circles with it — 8 one way, 8 the other. Switch legs.
2 Seated figure-4 stretch Sitting tall, place your right ankle on your left knee. Gently press the right knee down and hinge slightly forward until you feel a stretch in the outer hip. Breathe. Switch sides.
3 Standing hip flexor stretch Stand in a staggered stance, right foot back, holding the chair. Tuck your tailbone slightly and shift weight forward until you feel a stretch in the front of the right hip. Switch.

Stop if you feel sharp pain. Mild stretching discomfort is normal; pain is not.
